A fire has broken out in the pine plantation reserve near the famous Nine Arches Bridge and Binge area in Demodara, one of Sri Lanka’s top tourist attractions.

The Nine Arches Bridge and Binge area, recognized as both a major tourist attraction and a national heritage site, are jointly managed by the Department of Railways, the Central Cultural Fund, and the Ministry of Tourism, while the surrounding forest reserve falls under the Forest Conservation Department.
According to reports, over 10 acres of forest have already been destroyed by the fire, and it is believed that wildlife may also have been harmed.
