A tragic road accident occurred in the Komari area of the Pottuvil Police Division on Saturday evening when a bus transporting pilgrims from Akkarapattu to Pottuvil veered off the road.
The crash left 57 passengers injured, who were subsequently admitted to hospitals in Komari, Thirukkovil, and Pottuvil. A 74-year-old man from Welimada, who sustained severe injuries, died while receiving treatment.
Pottuvil Police have launched further investigations into the accident.
