A new Immigration and Emigration Office is scheduled to open in Jaffna on September 1, Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala announced.

The new office will provide residents of the Northern Province with easier access to passport and related services, reducing the need to travel long distances to Colombo or other districts.

Minister Wijepala noted that this initiative is part of a broader government plan to enhance regional accessibility. Similar offices have already been successfully established in Vavuniya, Matara, and Kurunegala, significantly improving service delivery across those regions.

The Jaffna office is expected to benefit thousands of people in the North, further strengthening the government’s commitment to decentralizing essential public services.
