Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is currently in remand custody, should continue to receive treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), according to a panel of five specialist doctors treating him.
A medical report on his health condition was submitted in which it was noted that his condition has not shown significant improvement to a satisfactory level, Colombo National Hospital Deputy Director Dr. Rukshan Bellana said.
Mr. Wickremesinghe, who was remanded over alleged misuse of state funds, is scheduled to appear in court again today. However, Prison Media Spokesman and Commissioner General of Prisons Jagath Weerasinghe stated that if the medical recommendation insists that the former President must remain under ICU care, he cannot be produced before court.
