Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed his appreciation to Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake for extending greetings on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day.

In a message shared on the platform ‘X’, President Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of Ukraine’s friendly ties with Sri Lanka, highlighting their foundation of mutual respect and a shared commitment to peace and prosperity.

“Ukraine values the friendly relations and cooperation with Sri Lanka,” Zelenskyy stated. “We are confident that our relations hold potential for further development, bringing benefits to both nations.”

In his congratulatory letter, President Dissanayake reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s support for Ukraine and expressed confidence in the deepening of bilateral relations.

“I am confident that the longstanding bonds of friendship and cooperation between our two nations will continue to strengthen in our shared pursuit of peace, progress, and prosperity for our people,” he wrote.

President Dissanayake also conveyed his hope for a peaceful resolution to the challenges facing Ukraine, adding, “It is my earnest hope that the challenges and hardships presently confronted by Ukraine will be resolved soon, restoring peace, harmony, and stability to the country.”
