General Secretary of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), Tilvin Silva, has issued a warning that those who make statements contemptuous of the judiciary following the arrest of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe will face legal consequences in the future.
Speaking to the media, Silva emphasized that the opposition’s current unification poses no real challenge to the government. He also downplayed the significance of remarks made by social media activists, stating that while some claims may be true, many could be false, and therefore should not be given serious consideration.
Commenting on a claim by a YouTuber that Ranil Wickremesinghe had been arrested and would be remanded for 14 days, Silva reiterated that such statements should not be regarded as reliable sources of information.
