The Department of Wildlife Conservation has revealed that the majority of elephants injured in the wild are victims of trap gun shootings.
Officials said trap guns are commonly used for illegal hunting in protected areas and urged the public to report such incidents via the 1992 hotline. The department assured that the identities of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
At present, wildlife authorities are treating around six elephants injured due to such shootings.
