Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya yesterday (22) joined the opening of the “Time Has Come” mobile history museum exhibition at the Colombo Public Library, an initiative designed to help schoolchildren explore Sri Lanka’s post-independence history.
First launched in 2019, the mobile museum has traveled across nine provinces and showcased in ten districts and eleven cities. Its Colombo edition opened on August 19 and will continue for five days.
The exhibition presents key historical moments from the 1940s to the present, focusing on themes of national identity, conflict, and the economy. It also engages students in exploring critical questions about history and its interpretation through interactive activities.
The project is supported by the European Union and the German Federal Foreign Office, organized by the Collective for Historical Dialogue and Memory (CHDM), with the partnership of SCOPE and the Government of Sri Lanka.
EU Ambassador to Sri Lanka Carmen Moreno, GIZ Sri Lanka Country Director Nicolas Lamade, and CHDM Executive Director Tanuja Thuraiarajah also attended the event.
