He noted that the recruitment process for these officers is currently underway, emphasising the importance of equipping police personnel with specialist knowledge in tackling cybercrime.
The Minister revealed that the police service is currently facing a shortage of around 28,000 officers. Recruitment is expected to be carried out in phases, with plans to enlist another 5,000 officers next year following the current intake.
