Former Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has appeared before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) today to provide a statement.
He was summoned in connection with an inquiry into the renovation work carried out at the United National Party (UNP) headquarters, Sirikotha, by the State Engineering Corporation during the period when Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa was serving as a Cabinet Minister.
At the time of the renovation, Kariyawasam was functioning as the General Secretary of the UNP. Accordingly, the Anti-Corruption Commission has recorded his statement regarding the matter.
