The Department of Meteorology states that atmospheric conditions remain favorable for evening thundershowers in several parts of the country during the coming days.

Accordingly, showers or thundershowers are expected in the Northern, North-Central, Central, Uva, and Eastern provinces, as well as in the Hambantota district after 1.00 p.m. Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50mm is also likely at certain locations in these areas.

In addition, a few showers may occur in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, and in the Galle and Matara districts.

The general public is urged to take necessary precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
