A special team of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested the gunman responsible for the killing of former Homagama Pradeshiya Sabha member Shanta Mudunkotuwa, who was shot dead on August 12 along the Meegoda–Atigala Road.
The suspect was apprehended during a special operation in the Southern Province. According to CID interrogations, the arrested individual had been operating as a contract shooter for underworld drug trafficker Lalith Kannangara, alias “Bus Lalith,” who is said to be residing in Dubai.
Investigators further revealed that the suspect had carried out multiple shootings in Homagama and nearby areas under Kannangara’s instructions.
