Sri Lanka Railways has introduced a new weekend train service named Ella Weekend Express from today (16), aimed at providing greater convenience to both local and foreign tourists eager to enjoy the scenic Colombo–Badulla rail journey.
The service will operate every Saturday, departing Colombo Fort at 5:30 a.m., and every Sunday, departing Badulla at 1:45 p.m. Authorities say the move comes in response to the growing demand from travelers to experience one of the world’s most picturesque train rides.
