Bank Officer arrested over Rs. 90 Million fraud

The Assistant Public Relations Manager of a commercial bank’s Anuradhapura branch was arrested yesterday (13) by the Commercial Crimes Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The arrest was made over allegations of illegally obtaining Rs. 90 million from a customer’s accounts by altering the account holder’s signature and preparing forged documents.

CID sources said investigations are underway to apprehend several other bank employees suspected of aiding and abetting the fraud.
