The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) has deactivated and safely brought down an illegal drone camera flying over the historic Kandy Esala Perahera, attended by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and thousands of devotees.
The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) has deactivated and safely brought down an illegal drone camera flying over the historic Kandy Esala Perahera, attended by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and thousands of devotees.
The drone, seen hovering suspiciously above the procession, was disabled using special SLAF technology. Security forces traced its operation to a tourist hotel overlooking Kandy Lake, where a Portuguese national was arrested for allegedly piloting it.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) had suspended all drone flights over the procession route to ensure public safety.
They said at that time that strict legal action will be taken against violators.
