Deputy Minister of Justice and National Unity, Mr. Muneer Moulana, announced that a “National Official Languages Week” will be observed from July 1 to 5, marking today’s Official Languages Day.
Speaking at a media briefing held on June 30 at the Government Information Department, the Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of enabling all citizens to work in their own language. He noted that the government is implementing several initiatives to foster a multilingual environment.
He also stated that steps are being taken to address existing shortcomings, in line with the Official Languages Circular issued on June 12, 2019. A series of special programs will be conducted in the Vavuniya District as part of the observance.
