Meanwhile, the Anuradhapura Prison Superintendent was taken into custody by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday (8) evening
This arrest was made in connection with allegations that he had facilitated the illegal release of a convicted individual who had been sentenced by the Anuradhapura High Court for misappropriating Rs. 4 million through fraudulent means. The release had allegedly been granted under the President’s general amnesty, which was misused unlawfully.
The arrested Anuradhapura Prison Superintendent is scheduled to be presented before the Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate today (9).
